Windscreen and car glass repair
A small chip can spread into a crack that fails inspection, so it pays to act early. Describe the damage on AXL and workshops quote a repair or replacement, with camera and sensor recalibration where your car needs it.
Repair or replace?
- Small stone chips can often be filled rather than replaced
- Cracks longer than a coin, or in the driver’s line of sight, usually mean replacement
- Chipped side or rear windows
- Cameras or sensors on the glass that need recalibration
What affects the price
- Repair versus a full windscreen replacement
- Original versus aftermarket glass
- Advanced driver-assist (ADAS) camera recalibration
- Heated glass, sensors or tint bands

Frequently asked questions
Will a windscreen chip pass inspection?
A chip in the driver’s view or a spreading crack can fail. Repairing early is cheaper than a full replacement and keeps you road-legal.
Does my car need camera recalibration after glass replacement?
If it has a forward camera for lane-keeping or auto-braking mounted on the windscreen, yes. Recalibration is essential for those systems to work correctly.
